Schizo-somatics is a speculative-pragmatic study on modes of experience through the schiz, cut or interval, following Deleuze and Guattari in Anti-Oedipus. Somatic is considered a plane of affective swarming of experience that includes the body but is not limited to it.
By acting as an interruption the schiz becomes a passageway through a multiplicity of the planes. It thus allows to bypass the dichotomy between the organic – the body as something contained into a natural or organic category i.e. the anatomy, the ego and the human – and the artificial, since machines are always made out of processual mixes.
In Chaosmosis, Guattari proposes that the passageway opened by the schiz generates virtual ecologies. These are potential fields of experience intersecting with concrete ones, and these crossings are fertile for emergent subjectivities.
During the schizo-somatics workshop series practitioners are invited to bring a question or a technique that is unfinished (schized), so that it can be explored collectively together with the people attending. The aim is to have a collective felt-thought of what a schiz, interval or cut can do.
Despite the complexities explored, the practices embodied very simple: crawling side by side drawing water bags, playing with breath, touching textures, voicing etc. The workshops are happening bi-weekly on Wednesdays.
