fuit.es

fuit.es is a space for online composition that proposes to bring contrasting elements into play, into relation. Since 2019, it has grown into a transdisciplinary project involving many different artists working to create a space for collective artistic practice. This motivation has stemmed both from the urge to see more shared spaces for online dissemination of art and to develop asynchronous techniques for sparking and proliferating the individual and collective artistic practices of all those involved.

The website itself affords a space where traces – images, sounds, text – can be uploaded and worked with as a practice of transversal encounter with other traces from practices in motion within the collective: sculpture, rug-making, music, sound art, video and animation, to name a few. To facilitate such an encounter, is in important that the space give momentum to voices and propositions that don’t know that they are asking something yet.

The 3 Ecologies project is an autonomous organization dedicated to participatory experimentation in research-creation. research-creation. It operates at the intersection of artistic practice, philosophy, and community engagement, building on the nearly two decades of experience of its former parent organization, SenseLab. Its aim is to catalyze the emergence of new forms of creative collaboration across disciplinary boundaries, and to disseminate the resulting “techniques of relation” for adoption by artists and social actors, for adaptation to their needs. …

100 Acres Plus – Addition to 3E Land

March 2025

Snaking up and around throughout the gallery, the textile artwork “100 Acres” creates a topology with rhythmic movements winding across the patterns that were conceived as non-representational renderings (transductions) of movements across the 3E land in a refusal of distantism (the belief that the world is given to us in the establishing shot of overview). There was protocol: at the end of the exhibition period, people were invited to cut a piece (5 feet by 5 feet) out of the work in return for a 2000-pound contribution to a land fund to enlarge the amount of land under protection as part of 3E: land that, at the time of this writing, is being unsettled, taken out of the property market and given back to itself…

Cephalopod Dreams Alter-Economies Event

Cephalopod Dreams Alter-Economies Event

November 2024

In the second week of November, as autumn yielded to the coming winter, 3E held a 3-day gathering on money and alter-economies. The weekend was planned as an intensive study session around a selection of four texts. In addition to a chapter on gift economies by David Graeber and an essay on racial capitalism by Jodi Melamed, 15 in-person and 30 online participants read and discussed texts coming out of the SenseLab’s years-long experiments with alter-economies. The aim was to restart discussions on decentralized finance, alternative notions of value, and collective decision-making related to these as 3E moves across a threshold into a new phase…

Perceptual Ferment Event

October 2024

At the end of September over a ten-day period, 3E hosted around 30 collaborators for a rolling event called “Perceptual Ferment.” The event was planned using techniques for self-organizing gleaned from our experiences with SenseLab. There was an emergent agenda composed on the fly by “pop-up propositions” coming from participants…

3Ecologies Books – New Release: Rituals for Climate Change: A Crip Struggle for Ecojustice

by Naomi Ortiz
Published: August 15, 2023

Disability justice and ecojustice are rarely considered together but are in constant conversation in our world. Rituals for Climate Change: A Crip Struggle for Ecojustice, combining poetry and the lyrical essay, doesn’t contain just one point of view but encompasses dialectical perspectives which often exist in contradiction to each other…

3Ecologies Books – New Release: Open Book in Ways of Water

by Adam Wolfond
Published: July 14, 2023

In Open Book in Ways of Water, poet and artist Adam Wolfond explores the synaesthetic quality of autistic perception, the way in which water in its different materializations shapes and channels language. Building on notions such as “wetness,” “streams,” and “currents,” Wolfond constructs a linguistic universe in which writing and perception merge, move, and “pace to gether”…

Reading Groups

Reading groups are a staple of ongoing 3E activities. 3E reading groups study a great variety of texts, but our main emphasis is on process thought (broadly understood, approaches that ask “how” rather than “what,” and begin from notions of event and activity rather subject or substance). There are currently three long-running reading groups meeting regularly. Details can be found here.

The 3Ecologies Project is an autonomous organization dedicated to participatory experimentation in research-creation. It operates at the intersection of artistic practice, philosophy, and community engagement, building on the nearly two decades of experience of its parent organization, the SenseLab, based at Concordia Univerisity, a pioneer in the theory and practice of research-creation (senselab.ca). Its aim is to catalyze the emergence of new forms of creative collaboration across disciplinary boundaries, and to disseminate the resulting “techniques of relation” for adoption by artists and social actors, for adaptation to their needs. It seeks to operate as a “process seed bank” disseminating seeds of creative practice that can impart self-organizing momentum to outside artists, collectives, and organizations. The 3E Project operates as an extra-university research and learning environment, according to the principles of a processual gift economy. It is dedicated to an ethos of radical openness. A nonprofit organization registered in Quebec, all of its activities are open to all and free of charge. 3E places special emphasis on creating a welcoming environment for neurodiversity, not only supportive of but positively learning from the normally undervalued experiential and perceptual worlds of pathologized and racialized communities. The perspective is ecological, in an expanded sense adopted from philosopher/activist Felix Guattari. The “three ecologies” are the social, the environmental, and the conceptual, as they enmesh in every event. 3E poses the question of sustainability in that expanded framework. 3E operates as a node in the international network developed by the SenseLab, which includes over 800 participants worldwide, with active local groups in Montreal, Australia, Brazil, and several locations in Europe, and formal partnerships with more than two dozen university and art-organization partners. Distance collaboration tools are used to cross-pollinate ideas and approaches between network members. Activities cycle between online collaboration and live participatory research-creation events of experimental format. The development of new digital tools for cycling between locally embodied and networked online interactions as part of an integrated “creative process engine” is a long-term goal of 3E.
