We have been using this year’s maple production as a fund-raising tool, taking contributions in return for syrup. Our donations have just surpassed our expenses for the season. (Expenses were $2952 and we just surpassed $3000 in returns). Everything we bring in from now on will be extra operating expenses for other activities.
This comes just as we are moving into two back-to-back residencies: Fire! (traditional clay oven and kiln construction on site) and a week of thinking-together with Angélique Wilkie’s Dramaturgical Ecologies project (https://www.dramaturgicalecologies.com). September will see alter-economy sessions in Montreal and on the 3E land, and the beginning of 3-month artist/scholar residency. Dancer/choreographer/writer Branca Scliar Cabral (Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina, Florianopolis, Brazil) will work from the primitive cabin next to the sugar shack — which by then will be not quite as primitive (it will have electricity from a small solar system and running water from a shallow well). These improvements will make the cabin more comfortable, complementing the comparative luxury of the 10-bed solar-powered guest house used for events and participants’ housing.
Your Patreon contributions are central to making 3E activities possible. Thank you so much for your contributions!
